Here is the obvious miscomprehension and misuse of what is actually implied in the trade proverb that business is business. It is often presented on BBS at first by an ordinary user, who conducts himself all the time and is universally recognized as 'a good man', boasting about something like heart-shaped mugs or routers with fantastic features; then, as a normal course, the commercial products are offered to be sold openly, more or less suddenly, with a seemingly favourable price. Due to the excellent reputation of the seller, others rush to purchase the mugs, the routers and anything which in fact they could have bought even with a lower price elsewhere. When quality issues arise over time, unfortunately but not surprisingly, the buyers are somehow ashamed to make a claim against the sellers, and the latters are only too happy to that and, not seldom, scoff privately at the formers ('a cluster of stupid suckers'). As the situation deteriorates, a number of buyers seek to interrogate the sellers on BBS, to which the sellers response with prevarication and excuse. When more and more people get involved and the public opinion is out of control, the sellers get into a panic and resort to authority, where a moderator will show up solemnly but do his job surreptitiously. After all negative posts are deleted and the 'good man' vanishes into the air, people realize, again, that business is business but reputation is bullshit.
