英文中的句号“.”在语法中，应该有三个意思：1. 表示句尾；2. 表示非直接的疑问；3. 表示缩写。

其中，表示缩写的时候，在普通的语句之中，后面一般都要另外再跟其它标点符号吧？
例如：
Who live in Washington D.C.?
He arrived from Washington, D.C., at 6 p.m.

其中，第二个句子中的p.m.表示的是下午的缩写，但由于后面本身要跟句号，那么是不是就不用再加一个句号了？直接就是以“p.m.”结尾就行了？
如果是非句号的情况下，就一定要接其它的标点吧？


此外，一些科技文章的参考文献引用列表中，作者的名字一般都是缩写的，例如将“Zhao Linjia”缩写成“Zhao L.”；如果很多作者，一般只写第一作者的名字缩写，然后后面接“et al.”，表示等等。
问题就来了：
那么第一作者的名字缩写后面同“et al.”之间，是否要加逗号呢？作者的列表之后，一般直接跟文章名称，那么在“et al.”同文章的题目之间，是否要加逗号？

就像这样：
Zhao L.,et al., The whine of a Donkey King,My Diary
还是
Zhao L.et al.The whine of a Donkey King,My Diary
区别是那2个逗号。

找个该会议或期刊往年的文章，看看参考文献怎么写的，照着写就行。都是小问题，不会有人以这个为理由拒的. 那个p.m.很多都直接写成大写PM了，D.C.后面要加标点符号的(句号除外)。
例如：Crime in Washington, D.C., is concentrated in areas associated with poverty, drug abuse, and gangs.
As of 2010, there were an estimated 81,734 foreign immigrants living in Washington, D.C.

2，各个期刊要求不一。et al.后有的是句号 （实际省略），有的要求逗号

看投国内还是国外，国外期刊习惯和国标还不太一样。

参考文献有专门的国标。
比如说缩写的“.”,在参考文献中是要求删去。

国外期刊一般会提供模版，各不相同。

Do not double the period at the end of the sentence if a statement ends with an abbreviation. The following sentence is punctuated correctly:

We visited the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C.
Do not drop the period after an abbreviation at the end of a sentence when the sentence is a question or exclamation. These sentences are punctuated correctly.
