    Thank you for the connection.
You are reserving stay rightly on Oct 3.

    One to confirm.
Number of people to stay is no doubt in the four?

    纠正版:
    Thank you for contacting us.
We can confirm that you have made a reservation to stay with us on 3/Oct.
May I also check with you that the total number of guests for this reservation is four?

    你可以回答你一行有四个人,两间房每间住两个人,如下:
Thanks. Yes, we have four people in total, and we'd like to reserve two rooms (two guests for each room).

    来信:
    Thanks for your letter.
It is confirmed that your reservation is on 3rd Oct.
We're also wondering if the number of guests for this reservation is 4.
    回复:
Yes, 4 in total. And we also hope for 2 twin-beds.
    没有自己叫自己guest的。

Thanks. But I may politely disagree before getting back to writing my funding proposal.

The use of the word "guests" in reference to the group of four is not necessarily inappropriate in the given context, as Pennyshaw is organising the travel and hotel booking for the entire group including three others. It effectively avoids repetition with the word "people" used earlier and sounds slightly more polite (and hence perhaps has better suitability in the communication with Japanese).

Penny did not specifically mention the requirement for twin-beds. Besides, some luxury hotels provide two larger-sized double beds or queen beds in each standard guestroom...Yes, on many occasions a pair of beds can be called twin beds regardless of size. But I am afraid that it will easily confuse the Japanese receptionist who summons beautiful English. They might believe a "twin bed" has to be two small single beds, or even worse, thinking two small beds in total are what the four people would like to share...:D

I guess the "hope for" you used in the reply you drafted should be replaced by "would like to ask for" or simply "request"....[本帖最后由 Mr.Nintendo 于 2016-9-5 21:22 编辑]
